Hinsdale Cent withstand Lyons Township rally for win

WESTERN SPRINGS – Hinsdale Central’s football team emerged from a midseason minefield unscathed.

One week after edging Glenbard West, the Red Devils endured fellow unbeaten and archrival Lyons Township’s amazing second-half rally to win 28-21 on Oct. 7.

Hinsdale Central (7-0, 5-0 in the West Suburban Silver) seized early command and led 21-0 after quarterback Josh Bean’s 30-yard touchdown pass to J.T. Kolke with 6:22 left in the third quarter.

But the Lions (6-1, 3-1) had a stunning answer.

In the next seven minutes, Ben Bryant’s 83-yard touchdown pass to Hasahn Austin, a Jack Walton blocked punt recovered by Thomas Jackson for a score, and a Bryant-to-Brandon Fischer 45-yard touchdown pass tied the score at 21-21 with 11:10 left to play.
