Following the resignation of both Hinsdale High School District 86 head football coaches last fall, the Hinsdale South and Hinsdale Central teams are welcoming new blood leadership.

Hinsdale Central announced former assistant coach Rich Tarka as its new head football coach, and Hinsdale South named Mike Barry, former head coach at Evergreen Park High School, its new head coach for the 2011 season.

Hinsdale South athletic director Tim Feigh said Barry stood out from a stack of more than 50 qualified applicants as a top candidate.

Barry, who will also be a new addition to the Hinsdale South social studies teaching staff, started his coaching career in Florida at Baron Colier High School followed by Golden Gate High School. In 2008, he took over as head assistant coach of Evergreen Park High School. Barry played football at Downers Grove North High School and Kent State University.
