Hinsdale Central at Hinsdale South
WHEN 7:30 p.m. Friday
WHERE 7401 Clarendon Hills Road, Darien
RECORDS Hinsdale South (0-4); Hinsdale Central (2-2)
OUTLOOK This cross-town rivalry hasn’t been competitive in recent years, with the Red Devils dominating the action. That could again be the case tonight as the Hornets are still searching for their first win of the season.
Hinsdale Central got back on track in a big way last Friday, scoring 56 points in a come-from-behind victory over previously undefeated Lyons Township.
John Whitelaw was virtually unstoppable in the second half and could have another big game, both running and passing, this week. His main weapon has been Alex Kirk, who has four consecutive 100-yard outings and has quietly become one of the top receivers in the area.
The defense continues to be the biggest concern for the Red Devils and is something that must be rectified soon. The squad has given up 130 points, which puts them next-to-last in the West Suburban Silver conference.
This is a week to get some confidence as they go up against a Hornets’ squad that has been held to
under 21 points in each contest.
Hinsdale South fell by a 27-20 margin last week to Leyden, which was preceded by a heartbreaking 14-13 loss to Addison Trail.
