Red Devils retain Doings Cup, move to 8-0 by defeating Hinsdale South

It wasn't the prettiest result, but Hinsdale Central coach Dan Hartman wasn't complaining too much after the Red Devils had defeated rival Hinsdale South 28-14 on Friday.

"We'll take it," Hartman said. "Some things we could have done better, but overall I thought we did well."

Coming off huge victories over Glenbard West and Lyons, Hinsdale Central (8-0, 5-0) struggled to find its offensive footing in the first three quarters. Multiple big plays were wiped out by penalties, and good drives were undone by turnovers.

Most of the Red Devils' success, particularly in the first quarter, came from sophomore running back Luke Skokna. He had 70 of his game-high 128 rushing yards and both of his touchdowns in the first quarter.

"(Skokna) did an excellent job," Hartman said. "There weren't a lot of seams out there, but he did a good job."
