Junior Ryan Doney had two unconventional touchdowns Friday night, spurring Hinsdale Central's 36-14 win over Addison Trail at Dickinson Field, the Red Devils' first win of the 2013 season.

Hinsdale Central (1-1) jumped out to a 22-7 lead in the first half after touchdown runs by running back Juwan Edmund and quarterback Chase Hamilton, and a 70-yard punt return touchdown by return man Doney.

"We knew that was a weak spot in their game," Doney said of the Blazers' punt coverage.

Doney scored again in the second half, recovering a fumble lost into the end zone by Edmund following a 30-yard run.

"Juwan had a great run, I was just there on the back side," the junior said.

Edmund's backfield mate, Ben Stefani, also tallied a rushing touchdown for the Red Devils. He finished with 122 yards on 14 carries. Edmund had 98 yards on 18 carries.

Hamilton completed 5 of 10 passes for 85 yards. He threw one interception and no touchdowns.

Head coach Rich Tarka said Hamilton, a senior starting at quarterback for the first time this year, showed improvement from a 17-6 opening week loss to Bolingbrook that was a struggle for the entire offense.

"Today he showed a ton of heart," Tarka said of his quarterback.

Doney said the loss to Bolingbrook was a wake-up call and could benefit the Red Devils in the long run.

"It was good to go in there and get a loss and know what we're up against," he said.

Addison Trail (0-2) was led by quarterback Mike Rybarczyk, who finished 15 of 21 for 216 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Blazers wideout Jaavion Bradley caught both of Rybarczyk's touchdown passes.

Hinsdale Central plays its first road game of the season next Friday against York in Elmhurst. The Dukes are 2-0, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
