CHICAGO – Illinois rising senior Doug Kramer was presented with a Mental Toughness Award by the National Football Foundation at the NFF Chicago Metro Chapter Awards on Monday, February 17, at Halas Hall in Lake Forest, IL. Jeff Joniak, the voice of the Chicago Bears, once again served as master of ceremonies for the event for the 14th season.
Kramer, an honorable mention All-Big Ten honoree last season, was introduced by Fighting Illini offensive line coach Bob McClain.
Kramer graded out as the No. 8 center in the nation and No. 3 in Power-5 by Pro Football Focus (79.2) in 2019, helping the Fighting Illini reach a bowl game for the first time in five seasons. He started all 12 regular seasons games, missing the Redbox Bowl game due to injury, and did not allow a sack in 751 snaps on the season.
