RICH TARKA Head Coach

He currently teaches Math at Hinsdale Central where he is the new head football coach. Rich has been a Math teacher for over 20 years and was head football coach for 6 years at Rich South High School. As head coach at Rich South, he lead the "Stars" to the playoffs twice and to the school's first playoff win since 1988. Prior to being the head coach at Rich South, he spent 5 years as head coach of Crete-Monee High School. There he lead the team to 3 straight playoff appearances and the first playoff win in the school's history. His other coaching experiences included assistant coaching positions at Richards, De LaSalle and Thornwood high schools.

JAMIE PASS Offensive Coordinator, QB, Receivers

Jamie is a graduate of Mankato State University (now known as Minnesota State) where he was the Quarterback from 1991-1993, and an All-American his senior season. In that year he was also 3rd in the Harlon Hill voting which is the “Heisman Trophy” for Division II football. He has also played and coached for Bolzano Jets in Italy, played Arena Football for the Milwaukee Mustangs, and played and coached for Kristianstad C-4 Lions in Sweden. Currently Jamie works for Sims Metal Management Inc. He and his wife Karin have 2 children, Maya who is 5 and Cody who is 3.


KURT ANDREWS Running Backs, Special Teams

This will be Kurt's 3rd year as an assistant for the Red Devils after last year coaching the linemen on the Defensive side of the ball. Coach Andrews is also the Head Sophomore Baseball coach for the Red Devils in the spring. Before coming to Hinsdale Central, Kurt spent a year with North Central College coaching outside linebackers and defensive linemen. There he helped the Cardinal’s 2008 football team finish the regular season ranked # 2 in the nation and a CCIW undefeated Championship. From 2005-2007 Andrews coached football and baseball at Rich East High School and in 2008 coached baseball at Evergreen Park High School while teaching Physical Education. Kurt graduated from Loras College (Iowa) in 2005 with a degree in Physical Education, with minors in Health and Coaching. He was a three-year varsity letter winner for the Duhawks, playing on the defensive line for the football team and playing catcher and designated hitter for the baseball team. He is also an alumnus of Bremen HS. in Midlothian and has just finished his Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from North Central Collage. He resides in Naperville with his wife Rachel and newborn daughter, Allison.


TOM DORRANCE Defensive Assistant, Special Teams

Coach Dorrance is beginning his 26th year of teaching (25th at HC) Algebra 2 Trig and pre-calculus. In addition, this is his 25th year of coaching football; he also coached baseball for 23 years. Prior to coming to HC, he taught math and coached boys’ soccer and girls’ softball at Riverside-Brookfield. Tom received his BA in Math at Carthage College and a MA in math and computer science from Concordia University. Tom resides in unincorporated Willowbrook with his wife Jan, their five sons, Tom, Dan, Jake, John and Ben, and their dog Weiss.


GARY GAMEN Offensive Line

Gary is a physical education teacher at HC. Prior to coming to HC, he coached the offensive line, defensive line and Defensive Coordinator at Hinsdale South High School. He graduated from Indiana State. He lives in Downers Grove.



 

NICK GEBHART Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, Defensive Line

Nick is beginning his fifth year at Hinsdale Central as a coach and Physical Education teacher. He started out his coaching career in 2001 at Driscoll Catholic High School; assisting in winning 5 consecutive football state championships. Aspiring to different challenges, he coached at Niles North High School for one year before coming to Hinsdale Central. Nick received a B.A. from Carthage College and an M.S. from Northern Illinois University.


ALEX PERKOWSKI Varsity Wide Receiver / Slot Back Coach

Alex is a 2004 Hinsdale Central graduate. While at Central, he earned All-Conference as a football player and All-State honors as a sprinter. He decided to continue his athletic career at the University of South Dakota where played receiver and kick returner for 4 years. During that time he received his B.A. in Physical Education with a minor in Health and a Coaching endorsement. This is his second year as a coach at Central.

BRIAN GRIFFIN Head Sophomore Coach

Brian is a 2003 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School. He was an All-State Defensive End for the 12-1, 2002 team. He received a B.S. from Wheaton College, and teaches Algebra and Geometry at Hinsdale Central. He will also be coaching Boy’s Track in the Spring.




KEN LAGER Assistant Sophomore Coach, Offensive Coordinator

Ken is a graduate of York Community High School, the United States Marines and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his MA from Aurora University and is working on his second Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist. This is Ken’s ninth year coaching and his fifth at Hinsdale Central. He also coaches Boy’s Track at Morton West High School. He lives in Lombard with his wife Cristina and son, Cristian (7).


SEAN KASAK Assistant Sophomore Coach

Sean is in his fifth year with the Red Devils as an offensive and defensive line coach. He will be working with the sophomore staff. A graduate of Illinois State University, Sean teaches Health Education at a junior high in Addison. In addition to coaching football, Sean is also a member of the Red Devils baseball coaching staff.

PAT RICHARDS Head Freshman Coach

This is Pat's twenty-fifth year at Hinsdale Central. It is his fourth year as Head Freshman Coach; having previously served as Head Sophomore Coach for 4 years a Varsity Slot backs Coach, and was the Varsity running backs coach for 17 years. He also serves as the head girls track coach, a Physical Education and Drivers Education teacher; he is also the SADD coordinator. Pat resides in Naperville with his wife Karen and three daughters, Taylor, Andrea, and Meghan.


BILL DUFFY Assistant Freshman Coach

Bill was a 2004 Hinsdale Central graduate; and a captain for the 2003 Red Devil football team as a defensive end. He was also all conference, all area, and team MVP as a centerfielder for the 2004 Red Devil baseball team. He received a scholarship to play baseball at division II Lewis University in Joliet and graduated with a BA in 2008. After college, he signed a professional contract to play independent league baseball with the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association. The following season, he signed with the Las Cruces Vaqueros of the Continental Baseball League. Prior to coming to HC, Bill was an assistant freshman football coach at Plainfield Central High School and Glenbard South High School.


TOM LUDOVICE Assistant Freshman Coach

Tom is entering his 24th year at Hinsdale Central High School. Previously, he coached eighth grade Falcon Football and Hinsdale Central track. He has also been a sophomore and freshman coach at various times. Tom currently is teaching Biology and Chemistry, and is in his third year as the Teacher’s Vice President at Hinsdale Central. He resides in Naperville with his wife Annette and three sons Connor (20), Spencer (17), and Cooper (13).


JOHN MELONE Assistant Freshman Coach

John received a BA from Monmouth College in Geology and a Master in Education from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He has spent 27 years in District 86 in the Science Department teaching Earth Science and Chemistry. Beginning as a collegiate football and wrestling athlete, he has complemented his teaching career with a great deal of experience coaching football and wrestling at various high schools and colleges.
