October 5, 2007
By Tina AkourisMike McNulty's four
touchdowns helped host York to a 33-28 victory over No. 23 Hinsdale
Central in a West Suburban Silver contest Friday in Elmhurst.
The win puts York in a three-way tie with Hinsdale Central and
Lyons. York needs to beat Oak Park next week to get at least a share
of the conference title. The Dukes are two-time defending WSS
champions.
"Before we came out here, coach [Bill Lech] put articles up on how
Hinsdale wanted to beat us," said McNulty, who finished with 139
yards on 26 carries. "It was very important to prove ourselves."
It was the second week York has been at full strength after five
players were suspended for violating team rules.
McNulty's 53-yard touchdown catch from Tom Judge with 4:24 to go in
the game put the Dukes ahead 33-28.
Hinsdale Central (5-2, 3-1) took its first lead of the game at 28-27
with 8:19 to go in the fourth, when John Whitelaw threw a 14-yard
touchdown pass to Connor Marrero.
York (5-2, 4-1) led 21-0 until Whitelaw threw a 19-yard pass to Troy
Laing in the second.
