By Scott PowersHinsdale Central quarterback
John Whitelaw expected to be told to take a knee when he looked over
to the sideline in the final seconds of Saturday's game.
Instead, he got the go ahead to score once more. He did just that,
running in for an eight-yard touchdown with 4.4 seconds left to give
the Red Devils (4-1, 3-1) their final points in a 42-22 win over Oak
Park in the West Suburban Silver.

For Hinsdale Central coach Mike DiMatteo, the touchdown was the
exclamation mark on the afternoon.
"We wanted to finish the drive,"DiMatteo said. "That's what it comes
down to. I know [Oak Park] coach [Jim] Nudera's kids are fighters. I
didn't want to give them any hope."
Whitelaw, a sophomore, took it away most of the day. He finished
with five touchdowns (three running, two passing), 226 rushing yards
and 115 passing yards.
Oak Park quarterback Clarke Cuthbert kept the Huskies (2-3, 1-2) in
the game until late with three second-half touchdown passes. He
hooked up with Evan Scott for two of them.
Oak Park's Samuel Frank kicked a 41-yard field goal.
