Huskies have no answer for Hinsdale C. QB

Imagine the statistics John Whitelaw might put up if he played
against the Oak Park-River Forest football team more than once a
season.
The Hinsdale Central junior quarterback ran for four touchdowns in a
56-28 win over the Huskies (1-4, 0-3) in a West Suburban Conference
Silver Division game on Friday night.
Whitelaw, who also had one touchdown pass, had 156 yards rushing on
nine carries against the Huskies.
It wasn't as if the Huskies knew nothing about Whitelaw coming into
the game.
It was around a year ago when Whitelaw ran for 224 yards and tossed
two touchdown passes against the Huskies on a Saturday afternoon at
Oak Park Stadium.
"A couple of people said something about (having another big game
against OPRF)," Whitelaw said. "The line and running backs made key
blocks and got me into the open. All I had to do was run basically."
Whitelaw scored the first of his touchdowns on a 25-yard run on the
Red Devils fourth play from scrimmage with 8 minutes, 44 seconds
left in the first quarter.
"We were outmatched up front," said OPRF assistant coach Bob Organ.
"Hopefully an experience like this will encourage them to get
stronger. Missed tackles and not wrapping up was a huge thing. They
just ran right through us. Hinsdale Central has a lot of speed and
speed killed us."
The Huskies finally showed some offensive spark on a 48-yard
touchdown pass from quarterback Elliot Davidson to Dorion Grant to
cut the deficit to 28-7 with 4:11 left until halftime.
"We had not moved the ball very well up until that point," Organ
said. "We would have been pretty happy to get in at halftime down
only 28-7."
That didn't happen, as the Red Devils added four quick touchdowns to
lead 56-7.
"We tried to give them some different looks on defense," Organ said.
"It looked good at times, but once they got outside it was lights
out."
The half at least ended on a positive note for the Huskies with a
9-yard TD pass from Davidson to Darnell Lee to cut the lead to
56-14.
Davidson and reserve quarterback Jack Rogalla had touchdown passes
in the third quarter to Marty Finnegan (15 yards) and Lee (28 yards)
against the Hinsdale Central reserves.
