Devils impress Wheaton coach
September 4, 2008
Wheaton Warrenville South football coach Ron Muhitch couldn't say
enough good things about Hinsdale Central after the Tigers' 28-27
comeback win in overtime Friday.
"They are an awesome team," Muhitch said. "We were missing tackles
and that happens when you have great talent making you miss.
(Quarterback John Whitelaw) is a talent. I like (running back Rick
Zajeski) a lot, the wideouts. (Linebacker Brendan Sullivan) is
awesome in the middle and (Pat Clegg) is a beast at nose guard. They
shut us down on the run (41 rushing yards) and we had to work for
everything we got. So you're going to win a lot of football games in
Hinsdale."
Muhitch hasn't seen the last of Hinsdale Central either.
The teams will continue to play each other in the season opener for
the next two years.
"One of the reasons we re-upped with Wheaton Warrenville South is we
want to make sure we're battle-tested," Hinsdale Central coach Mike
DiMatteo said. "It makes you sharper as the year goes on. "The game
we played last year (a 20-6 loss) helped us and gave us some
confidence."
