Mike DiMatteo, Head Varsity Coach

Education: Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master’s of Education degree from National Louis University and currently enrolled at Lake Forest College to obtain a Master’s in Liberal Sciences degree

Current Position: Teaches AP European History and World Cultures at Hinsdale Central High School.

Previous Posts: Coach DiMatteo was previously at Lake Zurich High School where he served as head football coach and taught Advanced Placement (AP) European History, AP Government and World History Honors since 2000.

Football
Accomplishments: As head football coach at Lake Zurich, Coach DiMatteo compiled a 36-25 (33-19 Conference play) record, and four consecutive appearances in the state playoffs.  He also led the Bears to their first ever FVC Conference title, and the state semi-finals in class 7A in 2002.  He was named 2002 Northwest Herald Coach Of The Year and was selected as the head coach for the West All-Stars in the 29th annual Shriners All-Star game that was held July 19, 2003. 

Teaching Accomplishments: As a teacher, DiMatteo was responsible for rewriting Lake Zurich's AP Government curriculum. He also introduced the curriculum for AP European History that he created and wrote while a teacher at Grayslake Community High School from 1996-2000.
